Continue to find joy in new activities

walking

For a few months everyone was forced to stay inside or at least not being allowed to go out do watever we want. The benefit it brought is that we learned to enjoy activities that we used to avoid. Especially us millenials enjoy scrolling through our social media, but what if we did this for weeks at end, without anything else to do? You start looking for something new and end up going for a nice walk or talking with your family.

All the measures are slowly being dropped, but what can we do with the new activities that we tried? If you end up loving a new activity why should you abandon it when you are free to go do what you want? There are enough activities in life that we spend time on that doesn’t help us. We might aswell do something that we enjoy and brings us closer to friends and family. For example going for a walk with a friend instead of watching a movie alone.

Productivity is being able to do things that you were never able to do before. – Franz Kafka

Finding new enjoyable activities don’t have to cause you to give up other activities. Depending on what the new activity is you may learn to improve your productivity. Instead of constantly being focussed on learning or working you can switch things up with going for a walk or a phone call with your friends. It will bring you a new vibe that allows you be more productive and doing more in the same amount of time.

To get rid of the pandemic we all had to contribute a change to our life. Some of these changes are staying permanently, but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. When we become ill we tend to pretend to be strong and still go to work. However due to the pandemic we are staying home faster and protecting the people around us. At the same time a lot of companies have found a way how their employees can work from home.

Consistency to build up yourself

perseverance
Fighting against mountains

Do you have the tendency to build yourself up and how do you perform this? You can build yourself in many different ways. But the best way is by taking on any challenge heading your way.

First off check what part of your life you want to improve and what activity you have to perform. For example when you want to become healthy you know that you have to get moving and eat healthy. Look for the activity you wouldn’t mind doing for an extended amount of time. Don’t solely go for getting on a diet for a month but change your life permanently from this moment on.

Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance – Samuel Johnson

Every single small step you take towards your goal gets you that bit closer to achieving your end goal. In the large scheme it seems unimportant whether or not you go for that 10 min walk in the morning or you skip it. It’s only in a couple of years of consistency that you and everyone around you will notice what this walk and all those after it have done to you.

Consistency improves every part of your life. Included some unexpected consequences. People surrounding you will start to notice everything you have done with the greatest tenacity. It builds your reputation and the trust that people will have that you are capable of finishing what you have started. Despite all the obstacles you witness you will be surpassing every single one of them. Everyone will look at your accomplishments and they will want to follow your lead to success.

Being great at useless activities don’t make it worth it

Unnecessary acts.jpg
Avoid unnecessary acts

As a teenagers we spend a lot of time either on our phones or playing games on our computer. Something we don’t like to hear is that doing useless activities greatly don’t make it important. We can enjoy or time relaxing doing any activity we desire. But we should understand that becoming great at them don’t make them important activities. This doesn’t count for activities like playing music. Even though it may not seem to improve you life

A great example of such an activity is being present on social media. In the last years it seems to have been a challenge to be on social media 100% of the time. We just left or home jump on the public transportation and we have to check up on it again. When you are unable to answer on a message 10 minutes after it has been posted the connection you have with the person wont dissapear. It might improve your relationships if you don’t respond immediately. Cause you will teach others that they can reach you but that they have to call you instead if they require your immediate response.

Art is the elimination of the unnecessary. – Pablo Picasso

Everyone has some activities they participate in that don’t bring anything to the table. Sometimes this is what we need, to keep us sane. Call it your relaxation or peace of mind. There are many unnecessary activities out there that you would be better without. But to maintainn some inner calmness it’s advised to keep some of these activities active.

Once you have found out what activity you want to keep decide what other activities are unimportant and that you can do without. Can’t go without your game a couple hours a day? Then remove some of your social media usage. Can’t go without facebook? Grab a book after an hour of scrolling. The better you learn to use your time the more your time will be worth and the better you will feel.

Use your time wisely, and enjoy every minute of it.

Obtaining self-discipline by adding small changes

Change habits
Build self-discipline by doing small adjustments

Everyone knows one person in their environment that they consider to be extremely self-disciplined. We admire them and secretly wish that some of the discipline would flow over to us.

How is it possible that some are so disciplined while others having difficulties waking up or not watching TV the entire day? The so called secret lies in the details. When you get back home, how do you start your evening? Everyone needs some way recovering from their day. But how you do this makes a big difference. You can play video games, go for a walk outside or going for a run. Something as simple as going for a morning walk every day helps you perfect your ability to create self-discipline.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments – Jim Rohn

When you manage to have discipline you can set no matter how extreme goals, you can achieve them. Even if you set yourself as goal to be a millionare, you can obtain this. As with any big accomplishment in life the only way to obtain is by taking small steps towards a bigger picture. The power of discipline helps you to keep your leg stiff in any situation. Despite the hardship you can surpass them all.

A good method of learning how to be disciplined is by writing your goals down for the next day. When you don’t feel like doing the big goals you wrote down just start with a little part of it. For example don’t think about writing the 5 page essay. Either start with researching about the subject or start writing a few sentences. before you know you wrote a few sentences or even a few alineas. When you want to do something else go ahead and do so. Go back at it in 30 minutes and see how you get on with the task ahead.

No matter how much discipline you have right now you can rise and shine in your discipline levels if you pay attention to it. Go for the extra mile hiking, eat an extra piece of fruit or study for 30 minutes longer. Before you know it you will accomplish all you goals while others will look at you getting inspired by everything you do.
