Turn walking into a habit

Start early on with walking

Walking is something we learn early on in our life. Yet it is one of those things we sometimes push to the back and avoid as much as possible. Remember that time you saw an elevator and saw the stairs even closer by? Knowing that you will have to step all of the steps often turns us to the elevator.

Twisting yourself just a little bit to go for a small walk will get you a long way. Going to buy something small that you forgot last time? May it be a bag of apples, an ingredient for the meal you are preparing or a watch? Go ahead and park a bit away from the shop, now you are adding some extra movement in your life. Initially it seems unimportant, but all small things help to complete the bigger picture.

Walking is the best possible exercise. Habituate yourself to walk very far. – Thomas Jefferson

Once you start to focus on walking you will get more and more benefits. The more often you are going for a walk the better your physique will be. After obtaining a better physique you will be invited more frequently to go for a walk. When people see you outside more they will want to go on a walk for you and you might learn new people from it.

Adding walking to your list of habits will benefit yourself and everyone around you the coming year and even far in the future. If you look at older people around you, notice a big difference to the health of people who still walk and those who gave up on it in their 20s. The more you improve your health now the more benefits you will notice from it in the short and long run.

Take your time to enjoy the walking and everything it improves.

Go for a walk with family

It’s healthy for your mind and body to go for a walk and enjoy the outside. Instead of only enjoying the benefits yourself and improve yourself enjoy everything together with your family or friends.

You will not only improve your health, but also do the same for your family members that you go with. At the same time you will be improving your relationship with your family. Especially with small children it doesn’t seem completely possible to go for a walk. However there is always a possibility waiting for you. Going for a walk doesn’t require your child itself to walk. You can carry your child and let them enjoy the healthy outside air while showing them how life can be beautifull being together.

The family is one of nature’s masterpieces. – george Santayana

Walking together with your family boosts your mood and energy from you and anyone who is going with you.  This will make anything you do with your family more enjoyable and easier to do. Having trouble agreeing on who does what task at home? Go for a relaxing walk together and see how your relationship slowly increases. Which will in turn change your daily family routine. A little help will come from unexpected locations.

In currents society we tend to live very high speed. Everything we do is being recognised and evaluated on social media. Going for a walk with your loved ones is the best way to reconnect with them. You no longer need to only need to go to family reunions or sit at a table silently trying to enjoy your time. When walking outside you can enjoy the view and talk about whatever you feel like. Or even just enjoy the nice air and not communicating at all.

Obtaining self-discipline by adding small changes

Change habits
Build self-discipline by doing small adjustments

Everyone knows one person in their environment that they consider to be extremely self-disciplined. We admire them and secretly wish that some of the discipline would flow over to us.

How is it possible that some are so disciplined while others having difficulties waking up or not watching TV the entire day? The so called secret lies in the details. When you get back home, how do you start your evening? Everyone needs some way recovering from their day. But how you do this makes a big difference. You can play video games, go for a walk outside or going for a run. Something as simple as going for a morning walk every day helps you perfect your ability to create self-discipline.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments – Jim Rohn

When you manage to have discipline you can set no matter how extreme goals, you can achieve them. Even if you set yourself as goal to be a millionare, you can obtain this. As with any big accomplishment in life the only way to obtain is by taking small steps towards a bigger picture. The power of discipline helps you to keep your leg stiff in any situation. Despite the hardship you can surpass them all.

A good method of learning how to be disciplined is by writing your goals down for the next day. When you don’t feel like doing the big goals you wrote down just start with a little part of it. For example don’t think about writing the 5 page essay. Either start with researching about the subject or start writing a few sentences. before you know you wrote a few sentences or even a few alineas. When you want to do something else go ahead and do so. Go back at it in 30 minutes and see how you get on with the task ahead.

No matter how much discipline you have right now you can rise and shine in your discipline levels if you pay attention to it. Go for the extra mile hiking, eat an extra piece of fruit or study for 30 minutes longer. Before you know it you will accomplish all you goals while others will look at you getting inspired by everything you do.
